This plus size look contains three hot trends; the color orange, maxi dresses and crochet.  The inspiration piece for this outfit was the crochet vest. It is the perfect accessory for a fuller figured woman who would prefer wearing a cover up with a bandeau maxi dress.  Speaking of perfect a maxi dress is wonderful for drawing attention away from the mid-section as it flows off the body. To tie the whole look together I played up the orange, which is a popular color at the moment that also happens to work well with brown tones.

My Plus Sized Picks...

I loved wearing corduroy pants growing up; just the other day I was thinking to myself, I wonder if skinny cords exist. Turns out they do! Better yet they are trending – not that you ever “have” to wear what’s trending. I am an advocate for wearing what looks and feels good to you whether it is the latest fad or not.

Back to cords, I find them apart from being stylish and fashionable, comfortable and long lasting. They are great for falls cool days and transition well into winter. They are a wonderful alternative to a jean and the texture just adds an extra layer of playfulness.
You can pair them up with just about anything and in this post, I will show you how to create a relaxed weekend look that my plus size Chica’s can wear too.

No Frumpy Cords Here

I paired the navy corduroy pants with a Floral-Print Blouson Top also from Old Navy. I went with this top because it flows away from the midsection helping my bigger Chicas have smoother silhouette.

I played off the colors from the top, using them as accents in my accessories. If you remember my Fall’s Must have Footwear post I mentioned that booties were one of the shoes you need this fall, which is why I went with a grey suede bootie. You could have used any of the 10 shoes from that post and they would have worked as well.

A blazer is a great anchoring piece and it is a great substitute to a coat or jacket on days that aren’t as cold. The blazer is also going to create some structure and emphasize a waistline. The scarf, like with the blazer has a dual purpose, it protects against the weather and is a layering piece.

You don't have to go all matchy, matchy like I did, that's something I like to do. You can be more daring and mix prints, patterns and colors to express who you are.

As with all of my post please feel free to comment and if you try the look post pictures.

Quintessential Chiffon Ruffle Knit Top (Plus) $48
Ruffles have always been associated with little girls you see them and  think of something frilly and infantile, well ruffles are childish no more.  Ruffles are everywhere from shoes to shirts to skirts, quite versatile and stylish.

For a larger girl, ruffles are great because they camouflage and can flow away from the body, helping to hide areas that may not be as flattering.

They can be worn a number of ways dressed either up or down from a casual look to an evening look.

Ruffles add that little bit of sass that takes an outfit from plain and simple to something unexpected. Like a little surprise on your top or bottom, flair for your clothes.

            Little Miss Sassy...

This sassy little look can go from work, dinner or around town. I went with a monotone black and white look. A white Old Navy top with graceful ruffles and tie neck paired with a zip front tiered skirt by Torrid and a rope tie waist belt. The accessories tie everything together with their jet black and silver/ grey tones. Like the daisy fuentes® Jet-Tone Mesh Necklace chic in mesh. The piece “de resistance” has to be the Ruffled Buckle-Strap Pumps, glossy pumps trimmed with oversized ruffles and three side-buckle straps. They are just so adorable and go with the outfit in either pink or black.

“Big girls don’t cry” but they sure like to dress fashionable too! Three of my closest friends are fuller figured girls so if I was going to do anything with fashion, styling and tips I had to have them in mind as well. Well browsing for cropped denim jean for my Military Chic outfit, I came across these wonderful pair of Calvin Klein Jeans 'Blasted' Boyfriend Jeans (Plus) they are a steal at just $45.90 at Nordstrom.

I happen to love gray jeans they go with just about everything but these also happen to be a “boyfriend” jean. My friends would totally be able to wear these and feel stylish and comfortable.

Date Night...

plus_size_date_night_look
I paired the jeans with a Floral Beaded Top $24.80 from Faith 21 by Forever21, it has exposed zipper placket at the front., scoop neck, racer-back, shirred details and a semi-sheer front.

Now I am not sure about you but I have never seen my friends rock a sheer top with nothing under and I personally wouldn’t recommend it, not to offend anyone.

Therefore, I added a Fat Free Dressing Strapless Camisole by Flexees $29.99 in red to not only to add a POP of color but also the added slimming, shaping and smoothing. It has regular bra style hook and eye back closure for added support.

To tie the whole look together I choose to go with black, silver and red accessories, Luxe Gem Cocktail Ring $3.80, Vampess Bib Neckalace $25.99.  Like always my signature hair accessory doesn’t stay behind, Chiffon Flower Hair Clips $1.50 play up on the Chiffon flower from the top. The shoes are Kensie Girl Women's Selina Platform Pump, A mary jane with a twist!

I think this Voluptuous Chica fashion looks great do this is definitely a look she can go to the club with or out for drinks with her husband on date night
