As I write this post I am slightly in tears! My baby girl will be three on the 23rd of this month so I thought it would be nice to take a look at her 2nd birthday. She was really into Elmo at the time so we went with that.   Like with her 1st birthday (click to see post) I chose to make it a kid friendly event. No loud obscene music and no alcohol which are pretty typical with Hispanic parties lol. We hosted her party at Time 2 Party in Montclair, NJ. I really loved this location they provided an Elmo, music, face painting and many games/ activities for the children. Negatives; they only give you just 15 minutes before your event to decorate and it has a 2hr time limit. I felt a bit rushed other than that its a lovely location and the staff was very sweet.  I purchased her invitations from an Etsy seller.  It took lots of back and forth to get almost exactly what I wanted. There were a few bumps but this Etsy seller was very kind and very talented.  I made custom labels and stuck them in the center of small assorted color gift bags from Party City as a two in one souvenir and candy bag for the piñata  I was looking for party hat ideas and came across these Elmo visors. I bought red visors, googley eyes and orange foam at Michael's. I got one orange puff ball to make Naliya's party hat a little bit more special.
Custom pieces can get really expensive on Etsy so I made her headband myself. It was my first time making a headband for her, I loved the final product. 
Balloons I bought to decorate at the event location. I also decorated with Elmo and Sesame Street store bought party decor as well as table confetti from another Etsy seller.   I provided guest with bags of chips, juice pouches and pizza. I think Naliya had like 3 bags of cheese doodles lol.   It took her a little while to warm up to Elmo. But she had a great time. Below are a few more pictures from her party. I thought I had more but cannot seem to find them. They could be in my mom's camera. This year we are doing a Lalaloopsy birthday, I will try not to take a year to post hehe.            For the past few weeks I have been writing down the things my soon to be three year old daughter has been tell me that she needs, wants and I have to buy. If it were up to here we would run out and buy everything from every commercial lol. But these are the ones I noticed she really likes plus a couple as a mom I know she can use. With my daughters second birthday quickly approaching I wanted to take a moment and let you take a peek at what was her 1st birthday party.   Traditionally, with many Hispanic families especially Dominicans, the 1st birthday party tends be a grand event filled with many invitees, liquor and loud music. Apart from budget constraints, I nixed the whole "my super sweet 1st birthday party" and went with a small intimate child friendly event. I wanted the children to enjoy themselves and most importantly I wanted my daughter to be awake interacting with everyone and exploring all the details of her birthday.  Her Invitation custom made from an Etsy Seller For Naliya's 1st Birthday last year, I decided I wanted to go with a ladybug theme. I am not exactly too sure why I wanted a ladybug theme but I figured it would be super cute. I suppose that was the only birthday I was able to choose considering this year we are going with an Elmo theme. She has this new found love for Elmo, I love how excited she gets when she sees him. I purchased all of the decor and party supplies from Etsy, Amazon, Shindigz, Michael's and Tiny Princess Bowtique  Goody box with custom label
Each child received a ladybug box to put their piñata candies in as well as ladybug antennas instead of a party hat. We also blew bubbles and applied temporary ladybug tattoos.   I used red and black tulle to dress up the rental chairs a bit and a green foil ballon weight with stars as the center piece for the tables.  I bought her cake at Costco, I requested the color theme for the flowers. The foam ladybugs and pipe cleaners I made squiggly were from Michael's. Her cake topper was from an Etsy seller also made of foam.    Tutu and headband with bow by TIny Princess Bowtique  Custom Party Hat by Esty Seller I prepared party favorites such as tatter tots, mac and cheese, pig in a blanket, nuttella cups and sandwiches, pb&j and meatballs. Thank God for Costco! I used ribbon, ballon ribbon, streamers, wall decals and DIY'd some ladybugs to decorate the space, which at the time was the local for my store. Below are a few pictures. I went to church with my family and afterwards went pumpkin picking at Depiero’s Farm in Montvale, NJ. We had a great time at the farm; they offered many props for photos, a maze, hay ride, pumpkin picking and a petting zoo. I saw a cow up close and personal and heard it “moo” for the first time in my life! I was very excited and amazed at how many small wonders of the world one takes for granted like that of a cow’s moo without even having experienced it. I wore my jersey knit blazer over a plaid button down paired with a jean skirt, navy tights and my new go to riding boots seen (here) in black. I hope you enjoy the look! (español) Mi domingo muy bonito, espero que el suyo fue igual de agradable. Fui a la iglesia con mi familia y después fuimos a recoger calabazas en la granja Depiero en la cuidad de Montvale, Nueva Jersey. La pasamos muy bien en la granja, ofrecieron muchos fundos para las fotos, un laberinto, el paseo del heno, recolección de calabaza y un zoológico de animales. Vi una vaca por primera vez en mi vida de cerca y la escuche decir "mu"! Yo estaba muy emocionada y sorprendida sobre las pequeñas maravillas del mundo que uno menos precia, como eso del mugido de una vaca sin a ver tenido la experiencia. Me puse mi chaqueta de material jersey sobre mi blusa de cuadros, abajo lo combine con una falda de jean, medias azul marino y mis nuevas botas de montar visto (aquí) en negro. As you all know I am also a mommy apart from a budget fashionista and many of you have already seen my mini Chica Fashion in a few of my posts. I have found that when my baby girl is cranky is fighting her sleep to no end; the one way to calm her down is to give her a bath with JOHNSON’S Bath Time Calming Lavender & Chamomile. It always does the trick in calming her down and relaxing her. I usually fill her baby tub with warm water drop in a bath time book, a few toys and while I bathe her she plays. We both get to enjoy the calming aroma of the body wash and since it is infused with the NATRUALCALM essences we are both being soothed. I wash Naliya’s hair once a week with JOHNSON’S Baby Shampoo I use the Extra Conditioning Shampoo 2 in 1 formula for thick and curly hair. I bought this shampoo when she was about 3 months old and fell in love with it. I was happy to see that there was a product that catered to the natural thick, curly hair of babies. Because it is almost like a concentrated formula a little bit goes a long way, Naliya is 19 months old now and I still have some left. The scent is great and the shampoo helps to keep the spring of her curly hair. After bath time I finish with Johnson’s lotion. I give her mini massage and rub down with JOHNSON’S Baby lotion Calming Lavender & Chamomile. I love its scent and it’s a non-greasy lotion which makes it easier for her skin to absorb. It works wonders in soothing her. I just dab on a little JOHNSON’S Baby Desitin on her bottom before putting on her diaper to avoid any irritation through the night and she is ready for bed.   #BabyBathtimeFun Twitter Party!
