A few months ago I was sent this women's Cora Wood Watch by Jord in maple in lavender. I don't own a "go-to" watch so I was pretty excited to be receiving one, after a few sizing issues I finally am able to share my thoughts with you all. The Cora series was released this summer but this beautiful lavender and maple wood watch can be worn all year long.
Available in 5 varieties, suffused with vivid hues, graphic prints, and enticing textures the Cora series was crafted to be adord. JORD is run by artists, designers, marketers, and minders. Focused on creating timepieces that are modeled after a modern lifestyle, Jord values sustainability, efficiency, and experiential living. They make their watches for people who don't just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go.
I instantly fell in love with the unique design and vivid colors of the watch. My favorite aspect is that this wood watch is unique. We are used to seeing metal or plastic wristbands but wood let alone maple wood is pretty uncommon. For someone who prefers to go against the grain—no pun intended, I am really drawn to Wood Watches by Jord and their style. These women watches would be the perfect gift for your loved one this holiday season, Jord currently has 10% off so be sure to take advantage of the discount!

Now that you know where to go to find boots every mom and mini fashionista should have, let me share my five must-have pairs and why you need them!

5 Must-Have Winter Boots for Mommy and Daughter

Snow Boot:

More specifically, duck snow boots—stylish all-weather boots. Hunter boots are cute, but they are not snow boots. These, on the other hand, provide protection against the cold and snow/water.

UGG-type Boot(suede sheepskin boots):

You can pick up a pair of UGGs or an UGG-type boot. I prefer a calf-length boot that you can then fold over for a different look. These are perfect for cold, casual days, and can be paired with just about anything except shorts. (Side eye.)

Riding Boot:

While you are at it, pick up a pair in black and cognac! Rock these with a skinny jean and a crisp white button-down for a classic look. Nothing looks as cute as a little girl in a skirt
and tall boot.

Moto Boot:

If you have a girly look you want to add a bit of edge to or make a bit more casual, these boots are your anchor piece. Their signature thick sole is ideal for both little girls and the winter months.

Combat Boot:

Provides the most versatility. Shorts, skirts, dresses, jeans—these boots work with them all, and are equally as cute on mom as on daughter.
At DSW, we believe that shoes have the power to bring out something great in everyone. So no matter whom you are or how you dress, we’ve got just what you need. Shoes say a lot about you. Spend a little. Say a lot.
<![CDATA[Everything you need for a Fall Backyard Movie Night]]>Fri, 06 Nov 2015 05:24:29 GMThttp://www.chica-fashion.com/home/everything-you-need-for-a-fall-backyard-movie-night
This post is sponsored by DSW
Lately, the weather here in New Jersey has been pleasantly warm for fall. I thought it would be a great idea to take advantage of these warm days to host a family movie night in the backyard. Nothing says movie time like some Orville Redenbacher’s butter popcorn; naturally, that was the first thing on my list. You will also need a few more essentials your fall backyard movie night!

Orville Redenbacher's Backyard Movie Night

 1. Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn Bowls: These are convenient and great for easy cleanup. Everyone can get their own in their preferred flavor.
 2. White Sheet: This will be your backdrop or screen. Any light-colored, print-free sheet is suitable.
 3. Backdrop Clamps: You need these to hold up the sheet; I clamped mine right to the fence.
 4. Icicle Lights: These will be to add a little ambiance to the yard and create a movie theater–like atmosphere.
 5. Projector: This Mobile Projector is stylish and compact, and is compatible with iPhone, iPod, iPad, iPad 2, laptops, and gaming devices.
 6. Lounge Pillows or Chairs: I found these inflatable lounge pillows online. At only $14.99, they are a steal and are super cute as well as practical.
 7. Candles: The candles will serve a few purposes: a source of light and slight warmth, and, if a citronella candle is used, it can repel bugs as well.
 8. Blanket: When the temperature takes a little dip, these throw blankets will be great to keep cozy with.
My favorite parts of going to the movies are the snacks. I set up a snack table with a variety of refreshments; you can pick up some boxed candy from our local dollar store. A little tablescaping can help transform the area. Play with different heights, colors, and textures to create an eye-catching snack table.

Some great drink suggestions would be apple cider and even hot chocolate if it gets breezy out. Keep your budget to a minimum by purchasing the items needed a few at a time weeks before your movie night. The good part is, once you make the investment you get to reuse all your supplies for your next backyard movie night. Don’t forget to include the kids in the prep and take plenty of pictures!

Disclosure: I received the Born Free Twist ‘N Pop Straw Cups from Summer Infant fore review, however all opinions expressed are my own.
My kids love drinking from a straw, I actually encourage it as an attempt to avoid spills so when I saw these Born Free Twist ‘N Pop Straw Cups I had to try them out.
The first thing I was drawn to were their large 14 oz size, unlike traditional sippy cups these cups are able to hold enough liquid for an older child like my soon to be six year old daughter. The Twist’n Pop™ Straw Cup features soft silicone straw and air vent for comfortable drinking. The spill proof cup incorporates a twist straw mechanism to keep the straw clean making it perfect to take along anywhere.

They are convenient even for mom too! It can double as a water bottle to use while working out or in between nursing sessions. The cups are lightweight and super easy to clean also. I send one with my daughter everyday for her school's snack time. I mix it up and either send water, infused water, chocolate milk or juice. The shape works to easily fit in small hands with a comfortable grip.

Features at a Glance!

 • Spill-proof, leak-proof
 • Soft, silicone straw helps protect baby’s mouth
 • Twisting closure keeps straw clean
 • Easy to clean and maintain
 • Naturally Free from BPA and PVC
 • Ergonomic easy-grip shape
Available at Amazon, Walmart and Drugstore.com, these cups are easily accessible and affordable, retailing only at $7.99 a cup. They come in 3 colors to choose from; green, blue and pink. See more at: www.newbornfree.com.

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me for review, however all opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.
Nutri Ninja® isn’t just a powerful Nutrient & Vitamin Extractor* anymore. Now, with the addition of a High-Performance Blender, you can also whip up deliciously drinkable smoothies and cocktails. And that’s only the beginning!
I have always been a fan of smoothies but since receiving this blender I find myself making at least two smoothies a day with such ease. It is powerful and so convenient. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to clean up and how you can go from blending to drink in one moment. I used to use my traditional blender but the results were never as smooth and fine. There would always be left of chunks or some feeling of grittiness. Also since it is pre-programmed for you it know exactly how much time to blend for to achieve the best results.

Nutrient & Vitamin Extraction:

If you are in need of a machine that can break down whole foods, ice, and seeds—leaving no ingredient unblended and no nutrient behind. The unique blade design coupled with a high-powered motor does that and a whole lot more.

Auto-iQ One-Touch Intelligence now with Smooth Boost Technology

Auto-iQ Smooth Boost technology takes your traditional blender and drink customization to the next level. A unique combination of powerful Ninja®blades, high-torque motor, and high speeds allows you achieve an even greater level of smoothness than Ninja® has ever delivered before—all at the touch of a button.

Precision Processing

Chop vegetables quickly and evenly every time with no worry of overprocessing.

Plenty of smart features.

 • Pro Extractor Blades®: Pulverize fresh or frozen ingredients into a silky smooth consistency
 • Interlock System: So smart it can detect what blender attachment is on the base.
 • Smooth Boost Technology: Achieve our finest breakdown of fruits and veggies for deliciously drinkable nutrient juices and step up the smoothness while you whip up your frozen ingredients for ultra-creamy results.
 • Suction Cup Feet: Give you added safety and security
 • Low Profile Design: Ideal for everyday use.
 • Auto-iQ One-Touch Intelligence: Versatility and performance, no guesswork required.
 • 1100-1200 Watt Motor Base: Gives you the ability to make anything from silky smooth purees to creamy frozen cocktails.

Nothing says Fall like the wide array of plaid that becomes readily available to us, seriously there were tons of options at Target. But regardless of your pattern of choice the Ultimate Fall Must Haves are Plaid + Fresh Breath and it just so happens that Listerine has given their bottles a little makeover just in time for Fall.
LISTERINE® has always been an innovator, they have now taken it to a whole new level through a partnership with Target's Mad for Plaid collection. Find a limited-edition bottle of LISTERINE® outfitted in plaid at Target September 13 – October 31. Get ready for #RinseMadeRad! Want to join in Plaid madness? Head over to Target pick up one of the many plaid items available to add to your wardrobe, and a few bottles of rinse. I kept finding so many cute pieces, I almost did not know which one to get. Too bad I couldn't have just bought them all, I still feel like I am missing something plaid in blue and orange.
A beautiful smile is one of the greatest ways to add a pop to your look. You can also add the confidence of knowing you have healthy gums because you incorporated LISTERINE® Antiseptic into your routine, which can clean virtually 100 percent of your mouth.

Five Steps to adding Rinse and Plaid to your Style

A style guide featuring step by step photos!
2. Add a signature look to your bathroom by decorating your sink with one of the new plaid wrapped bottles, by LISTERINE® Brand, it will help you achieve better oral health all while adding a stylish flair to your sink.
3. Use accessories to make your look your own such as a hat, statement necklace and or a fun wig!
4. Rinse twice a day, I like to do it right before heading out to freshen my mouth. Brushing alone misses 75% of your mouth, so it is critical to floss daily and rinse twice-a-day with a therapeutic mouthwash like LISTERINE® Antiseptic to achieve superior oral health.

To close out Hispanic Heritage Month I participated in the #SoyHispana project, it was created to honor positive, influential Hispanas for Hispanic Heritage Month. Each influencer chose a specific person that they either identified with or felt a connection to some how. Organized by myself, and Lillie Morales we aimed to create a sense of unity among Latina bloggers by bringing them together to celebrate Hispanic women who have made an impact in our heritage.
I was inspired by the We are Black History Project, I thought it was both a creative and beautiful movement. As with them, I was aiming to foster a sense of unity between Latina bloggers, particularly New Jersey Latina bloggers, something that I feel is lacking. I reached out to many bloggers and was surprised only a handful responded. Nonetheless the influencers who participated came with excitement and eager to be apart of our first ever #SoyHispana project.
The #SoyHispana project was photographed by fellow blogger and photographer Lillie Morales (Photos by Lillie), with hair by Bombshell Hairdressing, makeup by MUA's Denise Rivera(@BeautybyDenise101) and @Suzdidmymakeup. Special thank you to our sponsors: Sally Hansen, Avon, John Frieda, Conffianz and Sol de Janeiro who provided products to help us achieve our transformations.
I decided to pick Milly Quezada not only because she is a Dominicana like me but also because she is hardworking, humble and talented. The "Queen of Merengue" a fellow New Jerseyan and un orgullo Dominicano, Milly is a multi-Latin Grammy Award WinnerDuring the 1980s, Quezada was the lead singer of a family group named Milly, Jocelyn y los Vecinos. The group enjoyed wide international success, producing 20 records, some of which were released in both vinyl and CD format.. Since the 1990s, Quezada has been either on tour or in recording studios almost constantly, earning several prestigious awards and public recognition such as keys to cities.

The New York Mayor’s Office under Michael Bloomberg, dedicated November 8th as
“Milly Quezada’s day” in honor of her major contributions to the Latin Music Industry. Her Homeland Dominican Republic’s Senate as well as the past two Presidents of her country have honored her at the Presidential Palace for her prolific career that has projected her as an iconic ambassador of the cultural value exalted by her fine performance of the country’s popular Merengue music.

In May 2005, she began a Dominican Republic tour that included a concert with the legendary
Conjunto Quisqueya. In early 2009, Milly joined eleven other Dominican music legends on a national tour celebrating the merengue and bachata music traditions of the country. That tour was transformed into a Felix Limardo documentary entitled Sol Caribe. The movie features an original song, La Puerta del Nuevo Mundo that is a once in a lifetime collaboration of the twelve stars. The film was the closing feature at the III Dominican Republic Global Film Festival in November, 2009 and was attended by the President of the Dominican Republic. In June 2015 she commenced her most recent tour #DeReinaaDiva along side another popular and successful Dominican merenguera, Miriam Cruz.

<![CDATA[What to Buy a 31 Year Old for Her Birthday, Specifically Me]]>Thu, 01 Oct 2015 18:36:06 GMThttp://www.chica-fashion.com/home/what-to-buy-a-31-year-old-for-her-birthday-specifically-me
Birthday Wishlist: What to Buy a 31 Year Old for Her Birthday #ChicaFashionBlog
So excited!! Another year full of awesomeness and great memories. This year has been really great and I have no complaints at all. I am always happy to be turning another year older because it is just a sign of God's grace and never ending mercy in my life. Another year older means I am blessed, healthy and alive to spend more time with my loved ones. I am turning 31 on October 7th and apart from those stubborn 20lbs I have been unable to shed, life is great. I have everything that I need in life but of course like everyone else, there are a few things I would like to receive this year as gifts for my birthday.
 • I love sneaker wedges, these Nike Dunk Wedges are super cute. The Nike sneaker boot wedges are even cuter and great for Fall and WInter but I do not think they are available any longer.
 • I have been running a lot lately and my current Nike Free 5.0 do not have the same comfort and support as they did last year so it is time to replace them for the sanity of my feet.
 • I am ready to kick up my gym sessions a bit and an Apple Watch will help with not having to worry about damaging and dropping my phone. I will also able to control Pandora and view my workouts with ease.
 • I want a few gift cards this year, particularly for Victoria's Secret - I need new bras, sports bras too theirs have a ton of support. I also want a gift card to Spafinder for a massage and facial. Then for a little shopping a gift card to Forever 21, Old Navy and H&M.
 • Again because i am trying to kick up my health and fitness goals, I would like bluetooth headphones so that they aren't in the way while working out and running.
 • FInally or maybe one of the first things I would love is a genealogy kit, I am slightly obsessed in know what my true roots are but have been so cheap to pay for the DNA kit myself. lol!
Have any special request for your birthday? What are they?

Hair Journey #3: Big Chop with Ona Diaz Santin #ChicaFashionBlog
I can't believe I am here yet again, once more another hair journey. Let me tell you a little bit about what happened this time around...
You can read about natural hair journey number one, here and you can read about my first big chop experience, here. My second hair journey flew by since I was pregnant for a good portion of it, I also believed that aided in the growth. After about two years I thought it would be nice to get a little trim but with a shape. I went to Bangz Salon and Spa for a DevaCut. Although the haircut looked great, unfortunately I lost more length than I would have liked you can check out that cut out here
Hair Journey #3: Big Chop with Ona Diaz Santin #ChicaFashionBlog
About six months or so after having my son I began to experience postpartum fall out, unlike with my daughter where it was only around my edges, this time it was my whole head. My hair also became very thin at the ends, add in heat damage and I was left with hair I no longer recognized. I attempted to nurse it back to health and even went for another Devacut but that worked to no avail, you can check out that cut here

I then began visiting my hairstylist friend Hazel of Hair by Hazel Alexandra, she gave me a beautiful cut and clip in extensions. I was over my curls and thought this would be a nice protective style, unfortunately it only caused more heat damage since my hair is so fine. I will be getting that hair style again soon but this time as a full sew-in.
Hair Journey #3: Big Chop with Ona Diaz Santin #ChicaFashionPage
I found Ona via Miss Rizos and what I loved about her after having watched a few of her cuts and sitting through a consult, was that she evaluates your curl and then decides which technique to use. Unlike the Devacuts her method is not a one cut fits all curls. I almost always feel that no matter who cuts my hair they always cut more than what I wanted but since I had heat damage I knew a lot had to go. She works at 5 Salon Spa here in Fort Lee, NJ. She is a curly hair guru and a self proclaimed hair saint. I think her hands really are blessed because I cut my hair a month ago and i feel like it is really growing at a nice pace.
Hair Journey #3: Big Chop with Ona Diaz Santin #ChicaFashionBlog
Ona also cut my Nali bear's hair. Apart from the occasional dusting I gave her when I would blow out her hair once or twice a year, Naliya has never gotten a real haircut. Ona gave her, her first real haircut. She did lose some length but not too much and ended up with a really nice shape.
