Wandaly, Natalia and Me(Alicia)
You may or may not remember but about a month ago or so I received a styling request from my friend, Wandaly.
She wanted an outfit to look “hot’ as she said to wear on her 24th birthday. You can see her Single, Sexy and Free look by clicking.

I had chosen for her a pair of draped shorts and a blush corset top with a lace over lay. She didn’t end up going with the shorts but did find a skirt that gave the same feel. All she was missing was a top and a belt, this is where I came in. We went to Garden State Plaza(mall) and set out to find the perfect missing pieces.

We went to stores I frequent like H&M, Baker’s, and Arden B. It was at Arden B where she found two black suede belts; she wanted a suede belt to go with her suede shoes, not that that’s something you have to do. One was a bit simple and toned down, didn’t make much of a statement and the other was the complete opposite. You all know I pushed her to pick that one. Why not? Your birthday is one of the very few days out of the year you get to go all out and be bold.

Now all we had to do was look for the top. In the same above-mentioned stores, we also kept an eye out for the right top but happened to find it in Forever 21. After pulling many options for her, we found the “piece de resistance” a spaghetti strap, lace bodysuit.

I suggested pairing it, with either: a nude, black or leopard print strapless bra. Wandaly opted to wear a nude bra, I think that it complemented the outfit well and the whole look came together quite nicely.

My sister and I always go shopping or browsing around in the mall, sometimes we go for specific pieces. We went to Victoria’s Secret Outlet, in Elizabeth, NJ one Saturday & I found a bralet; or what looked like a midriff corseted top. When I saw it instantly thought of her because #1 it was her size and #2 I just had, had my baby so there was no way I would be showing my midsection.

Right away, I imagined it with a high waist pencil skirt or some black cropped pants; I know I know those are my favorite type of pants. I shared my idea and she bought the top, I love her for always trusting my fashion instincts.

She decided to wear the outfit that I had created in my mind to our friend’s birthday celebration last weekend. As with any outing I did her makeup – I tried to do a brown a Champagne Smokey eye however, I am new at the Smokey eye look, and this time I did her hair. The only hair do I imagined to go well with the whole look I was going for was a 1920s up do. I browsed YouTube for some tutorials and came across 1920s-1930s Hair Tutorial for LONG HAIR I watched it a few times and I also watched it as I did my sisters hair.

I bought a New York & Co. belted short sleeve tunic dress back in February I think I paid less than $15 on clearance. I had just given birth to my daughter the month prior and it didn’t fit yet, so I set the dress aside for a later date.

I was not sure what I was going to wear for Wandaly’s birthday and then remembered I had that dress - still in its delivery package.

There really is not anything too special about the dress; it is a shapeless box dress. What gives it a bit of flair is the scoop neckline, the geometric print and gray tones.

When I decided to write this post, I wanted to find the link for the dress but because I purchased it such a long time ago it was no longer on the NY& Co. site. However, what I did find was a post about the dress from another Fashion Blog - Cheap Chica’s.

Some of the comments gave it bad reviews but I love this dress and here is how I made it my own for that night:

I removed the belt it came with and used my grey patent leather belt I got from H&M three years ago.
