The same areas of our brain become activated when we experience rejection as when we experience physical pain. That’s why even small rejections hurt more than we think they should, because they elicit literal (albeit, emotional) pain.

With school coming into a full swing, family schedules are about to be quite hectic. Amidst shuffling the kids between extracurriculars and trying to squeeze in a gym session some nights who has time to cook? Insert Domino’s Pizza!

Last November I lost my bff, something I have been pretty open about and can also admit I am not 100% over. Nonetheless, somehow I have learned to be my own best friend through the process and have had amazing personal growth on so many levels that I thought i'd share 3 things that have happened since becoming my own best friend.
Disclosure: I was sent a Petite Birthday Cake & Full Dozen Birthday Strawberries to encourage me to post about my Blogiversary from Shari's Berries. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
When I started my blog six years ago I had no idea what was branding, seo or that blogging was lucrative. I started my blog back in August of 2010 and pushed my first post live on 8/11/2010. It's crazy to think how time flies. What started out as a creative outlet to share my budget fashion fixes and my daughter's outfits, has turned into more than I could have ever fathomed back then but at the same time still so far from where I think it should be. Here are six lessons I've learned so far as a blogger....
This past June my husband and I visited Montego Bay, Jamaica for two nights. It may not seem like many days but it was a perfect little getaway for us. The best part was that the whole reason for our trip was to surprise my brother, Nestor of ThaBoxingVoice. He decided he'd be celebrating his birthday at the Holiday Inn Sunspree all-inclusive resort.
Earlier this month my family and I drove down to Florida to visit my older brother. This was only my second time visiting my brother in Florida, the first time was over six years ago! We had a really nice time, so I thought that I would share what we did while in the Apollo Beach, FL area.

From the moment I discovered that "The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking" was OnDemand it was a wrap! I introduced the film to the children and Aarlen was hooked, asking to watch Pippi 2-3 times a day. I am not going to lie, as his 3rd birthday approached I encouraged a "Pippi Party" since he had been loving it for the past few months. It took a little convincing be he agreed to a Pippi 3rd birthday party!
Disclosure: This post is in collaboration with SafeSpalsh swim schools, i received 1 month of complimentary lessons for my children. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
I have been swimming since about the age of 5. I went to a summer camp for 5 years in a row, every day we did swimming down at the lake. I am so thankful for that experience because it set me up not only for safety but fun too! I want to provide the same positive swimming experience for my children and here is how I am trying to accomplish that...
